17. Talk about a favorite artistic technique that you don’t get to use in your work.
I always liked the look of encaustic, which is basically painting with pigmented wax. I’ve never done it, but tried to fake the look by using lead white paint in cans when I was younger and did oil painting. I would stretch the canvas, size it with rabbit skin glue, apply gesso, then glob lead white paint over it as a base.
I would get nice texture effects like this:
Now they no longer sell lead white in cans (toxic stuff, lead) and I have switched to acrylic anyway.
