Poem: Voice vs. Mind

It seems selfish
to cry out in some pain-shaped manner
when those near you
cannot help fix you and your problem.

Your scream merely
brings anguish to those near,
who may wonder why
you have so little self-control.

The noise you make
opens a chasm of helplessness
between yourself
and the rest of humanity.

Part of me believes
in the truth of what I’m saying.
Part of me doesn’t.
Guess which is which.
